Now that we understand how speakers work, how are they made?

There are several steps to speaker manufacturing. First, manufacturers create what’s called a permanent magnet. These magnets are essential to the speaker’s function.

Next, they build the frame. The frame is often made out of aluminum or steel sheet.

After the frame, manufacturers form components including the diaphragm, and glue all of these components together. Then they construct the voice coil.

Once this is finished, they put together the cone assembly (the diaphragm part of the speaker) and the frame assembly. Then manufacturers attach the two together.

Finally, the speaker is placed into a box enclosure. The enclosure is made out of a material such as aluminum or plastic.

After the speaker has been manufactured, it undergoes a quality control process to ensure that the speaker meets company standards. After that, it’s good to go!
